Potato fair Budrio, Italy
In July the potato fair in Budrio, northern Italy, took place once again. The target group that visits this fair consists of growers and traders.
Together with our partner Soplat, Meijer was represented with a nice stand. Also due to the high temperatures of around 35ºC the fair was visited moderately during the daytime. During the evening the number of visitors was greater. Most of the leading companies in the field of seed-potatoes, consumer potatoes, mechanization and crop protection means were present.
 
In our stand we had samples of a number of our varieties on display for the visitors. Some of our latest varieties that perform well in various parts of Italy are: Orchestra, Soprano, Lady Blanca, Bionica and Lady Jo.
 
Two local television stations wanted to conduct an interview with a foreign fair participant and soon ended up at the Meijer/Solpat stand. They were interested in opinions on various facets of the potato in the world, in Europe, and finally the position of Italy in this respect.
Apart from the fair a football tournament also took place as well. In this tournament the Meijer/Soplat women's team won the final against the HZPC team.
