The new growing season in the Netherlands.

Springtime is here. Last week the weather was very good, the sun was shining and a dry easterly wind was blowing. This combination has seen to it that many farmers were able to start planting their potatoes. The texture of the soil seems better than it was last year. Hopefully this will contribute to a smooth start for the plants.
 
During the planting of the potatoes the exportation of our varieties to the “late” destinations continues as usual. The destinations are mostly in the northern part of Europe. The season starts later here and that is why our clients have not collected the potatoes yet. In the storages of our seed-potato growers, packaging the seed-potatoes continues.
 
Prior to preparation of many weeks, the breeding station has also started planting the test plots. This year, many potential new varieties will as always get the full attention from the team from the breeding station.
