News May 2007:

Shipment for Russia

The 25th of April a large quantity of seed potatoes was shipped to Russia. This shipment was prepared meticulously by a large number of people. Our logistic employees have approached the seed potato growers to bag the batches in big bags of 1,250 kg. Subsequently the seed-potatoes were inspected by the NAK and the PD. In consultation with a carrier a tight delivery schedule was set up, in order to unload around 50 trucks in one day on the quayside. Two large cranes loaded the big bags into the 3 holds.

The winter in Russia has been less cold than in previous years. Our clients expect to be able to plant these seed potatoes in the beginning of May.

Our colleague Paul Zekveld will see to it that everything runs smoothly in the harbour.

The Russian vessel “Knyaz Vladimir” will sail with these seed potatoes from Harlingen to Saint Petersburg in 5 days.

The 3 holds of the ship are loaded using 2 cranes

All seed potatoes are packed in big bags of 1,250 kg.
