The breeding station in full preparation of the annual exhibition
After a harsh harvest period the Rilland team has started the preparations for the selection of promising seedlings. These potential new varieties will be shown during the exhibition in Swifterbant November 8th and 9th. The dataset behind this decision making is of vital importance.
Much care is taken in accurate and reproducible measurements on yield, dry matter, grading etc… In total 50 characteristics are measured during the autumn/wintertime. Quality characteristics will determine market potential whereas agronomic characteristics will give an indication on reliability of the variety in the growing.
Quality has a high priority in the breeding program of C. Meijer. Adriaan Zandijk has many years of experience to determine cooking quality, French fry and crisp quality.
We are happy to show you the results of our work during the exhibition in November!
